The Intercultural Institute was established in 1992 with the help of local authorities from Timişoara and The Council of Europe. IIT is a non-governmental organization that accepts and promotes the tolerance climate and interethnic communication which are specific to Timişoara and the Banat region.

Out of IIT’s activities, we mention: intercultural education, interethnic relations, education for a democratic citizenship, activities with Rroma communities, cross-border cooperation and also partnerships on research programs that have to do with youth and culture.

Their activities at PLAI Festival vary from interactive activities to movie presentations, all on subjects like minority groups, coping with difference and intercultural dialogue.
