Seniors Council Timişoara was created on January 15, 2004 by the mayor of Timişoara, at the initiative of the deputymayor. It is set out to be of use in the society by involving the elderly people in the city’s civil problems, respecting democratic values such as freedom, dignity, tolerance and citizenship. It represents pensioners of over 53 years old of the city, regardless of social status, gender, religious affinity and political affiliation.

Seniors Association Timişoara is a nonprofit organization with legal personality under private law, non-governmental, apolitical, independent, autonomous, public, which organizez individual or collective activities for the benefit of civil society. So as to be more efficient and pragmatic in the programs they’re developing, an initiative group from the Seniors Council Timişoara started the Seniors Association Timişoara.
