Hotel Palindrone was founded in 1995, when they began singing at festivals in Austria, Italy and France. Starting from Austrian traditional music, jazz influences can also be felt in their sound, along with classical music, their repertoire include both remakes and their own compositions.
In 1999, Hotel Palindrone launches a first album, “Elegance”, album in which new musical influences can be felt. Balkan and Scandinavian influences are present, and some Austrian folk music themes specific for the XIII and XIX centuries.
In 2003, they recorded a live album, “Samo Riba. In the coming years, the band gained more experience, making several tours in Germany, Belgium, having concerts in many European cities.
In 2005, the band won the “World Music Audience Award” in Austria. Two years later, the musicians make a new album, “Dial 1702″, very well received by both public and critics.
The band brings forth Austrian traditional music but in a different approach, resulting in a unique and original style. The band doesn’t focus only on Austrian traditional music, but also on old folk music from across Europe. Their sound is rooted in old European musical traditions, merged with contemporary elements. It’s a combination of old / antique and modern / contemporary. To make all these shades stand out, the band uses several traditional instruments, singing in concerts with nearly 20 instruments. All four of the band (Albin Paulus, Peter Natterer, John Morrissey, Stephan Steiner) play several instruments during their concerts.
Hotel Palindrone’s music makes you get up from your seats and invites you to dance, breathes vitality and gives a contagious energy. In all their concerts the audience ends up dancing, in an atmosphere of great joy, atmosphere which we are sure you have enjoyed at the concert the band gave at PLAI Festival.
