Plai 2008

The year 2008 meant fado and Mariza for PLAI. Considered the greatest fado performer of the moment (in fact some say she’s the greatest in history), Mariza has taught us a lesson in what it means to put your soul in music, to sing not only with your voice, but with your whole being. We made azulejo, learned protuguese for students, lovers and tourists; ikebana and mural painting; we learned to play various instruments, read books and were read stories to, juggled and we partied in the chill area with nearly 50 cultural partners that were by our side. We watched the surprizing dancers from NN (Lublin Dance Theater), we listened to Vizanti, Hotel Palindrone, Alvik, Tarhan and P.A.S.O., we danced to Al Jawalla again and discovered Fanfare Ciocârlia on the musical journey that any world music stage would have been happy to have.
