This year’s edition brought on PLAI Festival’s stage in 2007 a first for Romania: a concert of the famous guitarist Paco de Lucia. Recognized as a legend for the flamenco style worldwide, Paco de Lucia succesfully took up other genres such as jazz, classical and world music. The first album recorded with Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin (1981) was sold in over a million copies, which was unthinkable at that time for a flamenco artist. With his vast discography, Paco de Lucia, gave birth to a new way of understanding flamenco, bringing his music and the instrument he was playing at a level comparable to modern jazz performers. Paco de Lucia took the stage at PLAI Festival 2007 along with eight of his instrumentalists, and it was breathtaking!
