Highly regarded musician and known worldwide, Jean-Luc Ponty is a pioneer and an undeniable violin virtuoso in the context of contemporary jazz-rock, considered an innovator who has used his unique vision. Ponty was born into a musical family and graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris as head of the class (valedictorian). He performed in a symphony orchestra for three years and, later, he began the real experimental adventure into the world of jazz. Jean-Luc Ponty is one of the first jazzmen to make a video that revolutionized the industry by introducing the so-called technique of “time lapse”, using images from which periodically one second passages are removed preiodically. Jean-Luc Ponty LEAP 2007 was present at PLAI 2007 with the support of the French Cultural Center Timişoara.
