The OSGC a.k.a. The Old Sound Got Changed

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

The OSGC was born during the summer of 2003 in the cities of Stockholm, Székszárd, Timisoara and maybe most of all; Göteborg Sweden, where I, Radu Apreotesei, singer and songwriter in the consortium, got to know “Jr Eric” and “Partillo” Alexandersson.

“Reggae Against The Machine” is what we like to describe our “genre” as, if we really have to define it and “put it in a box”. We’d rather just say; “we play music” but too many witnesses say it’s a definitive and unmistakeable blend of classic roots reggae where rap meets grunge and heavy rock and make passionate love. We say; so be it! Whatever it’s called, we hope you enjoy listening, contemplating and dancing to it as much as we enjoy writing, recording and playing it.

West University of Timisoara, ESN Timisoara

Sunday, September 2nd, 2012

Erasmus has been changing the lives of young people for 25 years in Europe and 15 in Romania. The Erasmus Programme of the European Union is more than a scholarship to study abroad, it’s a means for seeing the world, it’s already become a sort of “international language” for nearly three million Europeans.

Former Erasmus students will be showing you bits of what they have learned in this experience, an experience that always starts with an encounter with an unknown town, an unknown language, with people of different cultures. Only after that come the courses which they attended, the meeting of local people, learning to leave in a different style, to be open to challenges, tolerance and cultural diversity.

At the Erasmus tent you will be able to participate in workshops, there will be presentations, language courses, movie screenings, some gastronomy, all to show a truly multicultural Europe. These experiences are brought to you by ESN Timisoara, and are organizes by the West University of Timisoara.

Wood Be Nice

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

Wood Be Nice is the first coherent project in Romania that transposes images on wood, which has set out to restore the materiality of images and to takes us closer to them here, in the physical world.
Daniel Loagăr is the initiator of this project who discovered and experienced this craft of image transfer technique on unconventional surfaces (in this case wood) and proposed it to the other members.

From here on to a large project in which six people were involved was just a step. Initially the team was chosen, wanting to expose the photographs of artists who have never had an official launch, an exhibition. Thus four others were chosen to form the team: Victor Dumitrescu, George Visan, Livia Stefan, Tatiana Volontir. The basic idea was simple, each of the six participants in the project had to choose some pictures from their portfolio which were to be transferred on wood.

The creation workshop Una Isola Muy Hermosa (Wood Be Nice) is a workshop born in December 2010. Members of the workshop are: Daniel Loagăr – creator of collages from objects / installations and photographer Andrei Cornea – photographer and creator of collages. The project was born as a materialization of the passion of the two members for image and especially for creating it, and by image we understand photography, trans photography, collage and installation.

German State Theater Timişoara

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

The first references on the german language theater in Timişoara date back to the 18th century. In 1956, the theater gains administrative independence, becoming the German State Theater Timişoara. Over 370 plays were played since its establishment. The German State Theater Timişoara became over the years an important cultural institution, preserving and developing identity consciousness of Germans in Romania.

One of the most passionate mission of this theater is now making connections between different theatrical cultures. Directors from Romania, Germany, Austria and Canada have been here in recent years and discovered a multicultural environment, marked by natural interferences with Romanian or Hungarian theatrical culture. We discovered the German State Theater Timişoara in the same kind of an environment at PLAI, where they presented their activites and told us about all their theatrical projects.

FoodCrew

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

FoodCrew.ro is the first site in the country carrying out restaurant reviews. The group of foodies behind this project wander about to try all sorts of food. Good or bad, cooked or in blood, from kitsch to elegant, from pubs or bistros to experimental kitchens, we are the first to take a risk and then write about each soup, deep fried, pickle or stew eaten. Not being new to events, we come to PLAI to eat, play with food and to talk about food with the people attending the festival.
